Background The need for Sustainability Assessments varies from legislative requirements through to strategic planning, including:
- To assess and reduce the environmental impact and carbon footprint of a project - To review and reduce energy use and associated costs - To compare the benefits and disadvantages of the multitude of project options (especially the choice of renewable and low-carbon energy sources) in terms of capital and revenue costs as well as environmental factors. - As part of the planning application process - To demonstrate the sustainable principles of a development for corporate or marketing purposes - To improve the health and well-being of residents and/or staff
