PROSPECT
CRESCENT An energy efficient affordable demonstration house for Richmond Housing Partnership. The concept is to
provide an affordable house within a suburban context which promotes the use
of energy efficient technology in a realistic setting Prefabricated timber
panels with recycled newspaper insulation achieve low u-values (0.14 walls,
0.11 roof) and reduce losses through unintentional
leakage. An air source heat pump
drives a wet underfloor heating system and combined
with mechanical ventilation and heat recovery (MVHR), alleviates the need for
a traditional heating system. Rainwater is collected
from the roof and used to flush the toilets and water the garden. Internally, materials have been selected to create a healthy environment; one that is well ventilated, free of dust mites and harmful off gassing chemicals Detailed planning approval in July 2005. Anticipated start on site: October 2006 |
