Clive is the Principal Architect and takes overall responsibility for the work produced. The practice has received four design awards: a Civic Trust Commendation, The Richmond upon Thames Design Award, a WhatHouse award and shortlisted for the Downland Prize for Architects.

Clive has been a member of many of the key local committees, including the London Borough of Richmond Conservation Area Advisory Committee for six years, was the architect assessor for the Civic Trust Awards and chaired the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames Design Panel from 2006-2009 when it disbanded. Following a change of local council in 2018, it has been reintroduced and he now serves as a Co-Chair for Richmond and Wandsworth Councils.

Clive is a member of the RIBA and founded Clive Chapman Architects in 1981.
